The Armageddon chilli is one of the UK’s most exciting superhot varieties. A fierce, fruity powerhouse bred right here in Bedfordshire (United Kingdom). Created to rival the Carolina Reaper in heat, it delivers an incredible punch at around 1.3 million Scoville Heat Units, wrapped in a bold, wrinkled, bright‑red pod. This is a chilli for growers who want serious heat with a clean, fruity flavour and a plant that performs reliably in our unpredictable British climate.
Despite its extreme heat, the Armageddon is surprisingly grower‑friendly. It was specifically developed to mature earlier than many other superhots, making it a fantastic choice for UK growers who want a dependable harvest. Plants grow into strong, bushy shapes and thrive in greenhouses, polytunnels, or sunny sheltered spots. With warmth and patience, they reward you with an impressive crop of fiery, gnarled pods that look as intense as they taste.
Sow the seeds from January to March for the best results, keeping them warm during germination at around 26–30 °C. Once established, the plants grow steadily and respond well to being potted on gradually. In the right conditions, they can reach 50–120 cm and produce a generous yield of superhot chillies from mid‑summer onwards. Whether you’re making hot sauces, powders, ferments, or simply chasing the thrill of extreme heat, the Armageddon delivers every time.
Armageddon (Chilli Seeds)
Sow between January and March. We recommend using a 50/50 combination of "Westland John Innes Seed Sowing Compost" and "Gro-Sure Vermiculite". Keeping the mixture light, loose, moist and a consistent temperature. The optimal temperature for germinating chili seeds is generally between 26°C and 30°C (73°F to 86°F).
